The honest read

Credit first: BlueAlpha built in the open.

Few vendors say which engine they run on. BlueAlpha does: Meridian, refit weekly, with the posteriors exposed through MCP. That makes it easier to check than most.

  • A named, documented engine: Google Meridian with hierarchical priors
  • Geo holdouts and platform experiments update the posteriors directly, and a testing agent picks the next test
  • Backtesting accuracy published on the home page and tracked weekly
  • Pricing logic stated in public: by number of models, with channels and tests unlimited
The difference

Where Odins and BlueAlpha part ways.

Both of us run Bayesian marketing mix models and both let you question them from an AI assistant. BlueAlpha builds toward agents that move money. Odins stops at budget size and allocation, puts offline media and business drivers in the model, and has a person review each recommendation before it reaches you.

  • Priors set with your team from spend history, digital saturation signals and structured interviews, which matters most where sales are one national weekly series
  • TV, radio, OOH and print in the same model as digital, next to pricing and promotions
  • Data flows in daily and scenarios and forecasts run any time; the monthly retrain comes with a forecast check and a reviewed recommendation
  • Bidding stays with the ad platforms; Odins decides how much goes where

Channel contribution, 80% ranges

from the posterior
Search 14 to 16% optimize
Social 9 to 13% optimize
Display 2 to 9% test first

A tight range is a decision. A wide range is a test plan, with cost boundaries.

The choice

Who should choose which.

Both run Bayesian models and both put a team next to the software. Judge the decision you need help with.

Choose BlueAlpha if

  • You want agents that monitor accounts and execute approved budget moves
  • Your spend is 10 million dollars or more across many channels, with 18 months or more of conversion data
  • A weekly refit on a Meridian model fits how your team plans

Choose Odins if

  • The first question is the total budget, with TV, radio, OOH or print inside the model
  • Your sales history is one national weekly series and priors set with your team carry real weight
  • You want a person to review every recommendation, and scenarios you run yourself any time

The honest overlap

The overlap is large: Bayesian models, test results in the posterior, MCP access, people next to the software. Ask each vendor to open the model behind one recommendation, priors included, and to show a forecast made before the actuals arrived.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Is BlueAlpha a marketing mix model?

Yes. BlueAlpha describes a Meridian-based Bayesian MMM, refit weekly, with geo holdouts and platform experiments feeding the posteriors. On top sit agents for monitoring, recommendations and approved execution. Odins is also a Bayesian MMM, run by our team, with one model per market.

How much does BlueAlpha cost?

BlueAlpha's own buyer's guide says it is engagement-based, with a minimum commitment and a scoping call, and that pricing scales with the number of models while channels and tests are unlimited. It does not publish a price. Odins is a subscription priced for the budget it optimizes, with the team included and no data science hires needed.

BlueAlpha refits weekly. Why does Odins retrain monthly?

Data flows into Odins daily, and you run scenarios and forecasts on it any time, in the platform or from Claude via the Odins MCP. The model itself is retrained monthly, because a few more weeks of data change little in a model estimated on years of history, and a slower cadence leaves time to review each recommendation. Each retrain comes with a check of the forecasts stored before the actuals arrived, and a recommendation a person has reviewed.

BlueAlpha's agents can move budget. Why does Odins not?

Odins decides budget size and the split between channels. In-channel bidding is the platforms' game, run on more real-time signal than any external model sees, so Google and Meta keep the bids. Your team makes the moves, with a reviewed recommendation and a range on each.

How long does it take to get a first model?

With Odins, 4 to 6 weeks from kickoff, data collection and structuring included. Once the data is in, the model itself takes two to three weeks. Vendors who quote shorter timelines usually count from the day your data is already collected and prepared, and often do not offer data collection at all. Ask every vendor where the clock starts.

What are the best alternatives to BlueAlpha?

It depends on what you need from the model. We compared five options, with sources and who each one fits, on a separate page: the best BlueAlpha alternatives. Odins is on the list, and we say so up front.
