TransUnion facts: TruAudience pages on transunion.com, transunion.co.uk and transunion.ca, the TruAudience modeling whitepaper, TransUnion's November 2025 Gartner announcement and its 2025 annual report (Form 10-K), read October 2026. Lineage: Neustar's November 2015 acquisition of MarketShare and TransUnion's acquisition of Neustar's marketing business, completed 1 December 2021 (SEC filing).
Credit first: TransUnion has done MMM for a long time.
The MarketShare lineage goes back well over a decade, and Gartner has named TransUnion a Leader for MMM two years running. They publish their method, and it is a serious one.
- A deep lineage: MarketShare, then Neustar, now TransUnion's TruAudience
- Named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Marketing Mix Modeling Solutions in 2024 and 2025
- A Bayesian approach with time-varying coefficients, described in a public whitepaper
- MMM, attribution and experimentation in one suite, next to an identity and audience business
Built around the budget decision.
TruAudience puts MMM next to identity resolution, audiences and attribution, for teams that run measurement with TransUnion's tools and support. Odins is one managed service for one question: how much to spend and where. We connect the data, set priors with your team, retrain monthly on data that arrives daily, and a person reviews every recommendation. You run scenarios and forecasts yourself, any time.
- Priors set with your team in 2 to 3 working sessions, from spend history, digital saturation signals and structured interviews, which matters most in markets with one national weekly series
- TV, radio, OOH and print in the same model as digital, next to pricing and promotions
- Forecasts stored before actuals arrive and checked at each retrain, so the model's record is open to inspect
- Scenarios and forecasts you run yourself any time, in the platform or from Claude via the Odins MCP

from the posteriorA tight range is a decision. A wide range is a test plan, with cost boundaries.
The choice
Who should choose which.
Both are Bayesian MMM. The choice turns on what else you buy with it and who runs the model.
Choose TransUnion if
- You want MMM and multi-touch attribution from one vendor, next to identity and audience data
- You plan to bring MMM in-house and want a platform plus training to get there
- You want a long-established vendor, named a Gartner Leader for MMM two years running
Choose Odins if
- You want the model run for you, with a person reviewing every recommendation
- You sell in markets where one national weekly series makes priors decisive
- TV and other offline media carry real budget and belong in the same model as digital, pricing and promotions
The honest overlap
Both use Bayesian inference, both plan scenarios, both take experiments seriously. The test that separates us is a meeting: ask each vendor to open the model behind one recommendation, with the priors, the saturation curve and how the last forecasts compared with actuals.
Frequently asked questions.
Is TransUnion's marketing mix modeling the same as Neustar MarketShare?
It is the same lineage. Neustar bought MarketShare in 2015, and TransUnion completed its acquisition of Neustar's marketing business in December 2021. TransUnion now sells it as TruAudience Marketing Mix Modeling, listed with TruAudience Multi-Touch Attribution in its 2025 annual report. TransUnion's current pages do not use the MarketShare name.
Is TransUnion TruAudience MMM Bayesian?
Yes, by its own description. TransUnion's modeling whitepaper describes Bayesian inference with time-varying coefficients, recency weighting and an iterative development process. Odins is Bayesian too. The differences sit in how the priors are set, what is in the model and who runs it: at Odins, priors are set with your team in working sessions, offline media and pricing sit in the same model, and a person reviews every recommendation.
How much does TransUnion marketing mix modeling cost?
TransUnion does not publish pricing for TruAudience Marketing Mix Modeling. Odins is a subscription priced for the budget it optimizes, for companies with a marketing budget from EUR 1M to several hundred million a year, with the team included and no data science hires needed.
Does Odins do multi-touch attribution like TransUnion?
No. Odins is MMM, and it complements attribution rather than replacing it. Platform data and what your team already knows inform the priors, and results from lift and geo tests you have run are taken into the model. Odins answers budget size and allocation; bidding stays with the ad platforms.
TransUnion helps teams bring MMM in-house. What does Odins offer instead?
Odins runs the data, the model and the recommendation for you, with the team included in the subscription. You still work with the model directly: scenarios and forecasts are yours to run any time in the platform, or from Claude via the Odins MCP. Data flows in daily, and the model is retrained monthly with a recommendation a person has reviewed.
What are the best alternatives to TransUnion?
It depends on what you need from the model. We compared five options, with sources and who each one fits, on a separate page: the best TransUnion alternatives. Odins is on the list, and we say so up front.
