Odins vs Pecan
Pecan is a predictive AI platform for business teams, built for predictions like churn, demand and lifetime value, with a machine learning based marketing mix modeling solution alongside. Here is what Pecan does well, and where a general predictive platform and a dedicated marketing investment model differ.

Credit first: Pecan made prediction a business tool.
Pecan was founded in 2018 to put predictive models in the hands of business teams without a data science department, and that is still the mission. Marketing mix modeling is one of the problems it covers.
- One platform for churn, demand, lifetime value and campaign ROAS predictions
- Three ways to work: fully managed, hybrid or self-service
- Offline and online channels in the MMM, with non-marketing variables alongside
- Every model benchmarked with metrics like AUC, lift and forecast error
A model built for one decision: the marketing budget.
Pecan applies machine learning to many prediction problems, MMM among them. Odins does one job: a Bayesian model of how your marketing spend drives revenue, fed daily, retrained monthly and reviewed by a person before each recommendation reaches you, with scenarios and forecasts you run any time.
- Priors set with your team in 2 to 3 working sessions, from spend history, digital saturation signals and structured interviews
- Budget size and allocation with confidence ranges, so you see how sure the model is about each channel
- Daily data, a monthly retrain and a reviewed recommendation, with scenarios and forecasts any time in the platform or from Claude via the Odins MCP
- Forecasts stored before actuals arrive and checked at each retrain
Channel contribution, 80% ranges
from the posteriorA tight range is a decision. A wide range is a test plan, with cost boundaries.
The choice
Who should choose which.
Both promise answers without a data science team. The difference is breadth across many predictions against depth on one decision.
Choose Pecan if
- You want one platform for churn, demand, lead scoring and marketing predictions
- Your data already sits in a warehouse your team manages
- You want to choose between managed, hybrid and self-service work
Choose Odins if
- The decision is how much to spend on marketing and where to put it
- TV, radio, OOH and print carry real budget, next to pricing and promotions
- You want priors your team helped set, and forecasts checked against actuals
The honest overlap
Both of us model marketing spend against results and offer to do the work for you. Ask each of us to show the uncertainty around one channel's return, and how the last forecast compared with what happened.
Frequently asked questions.
Does Pecan do marketing mix modeling?
Yes. Pecan has a marketing mix modeling solution, which it describes as machine learning based, with offline and online channels, what-if budget simulations and optimization within constraints. Its home page today leads with its predictive AI agent for churn, demand and revenue, and MMM is one solution among several.
Is Pecan's MMM Bayesian?
Pecan describes its MMM as machine learning based and does not state a Bayesian method publicly. Odins is Bayesian end to end: priors are set with your team before the model sees your data, and every estimate comes with a range.
How much does Pecan cost?
Pecan lists Starter, Team and Business plans with annual billing and no setup fee, and gives prices through sales. Odins is a subscription priced for the budget it optimizes, for companies with a marketing budget from EUR 1M to several hundred million a year, with the team included and no data science hires needed.
How long does a first model take, with Pecan or Odins?
Pecan's 2023 MMM launch announcement said models are ready in 1 to 3 weeks. Odins delivers a first verified model 4 to 6 weeks from kickoff, data collection and structuring included. Vendors who quote shorter timelines usually count from the day your data is already collected and prepared, and often do not offer data collection at all. The weeks go into getting spend, sales and offline media into one consistent structure, and into setting priors with your team.
Can Odins use our incrementality tests?
Yes. Results from lift tests, geo tests and other incrementality tests are taken into the model. Where the data still cannot resolve a channel, the reviewed recommendation proposes a structured test, such as a pulse test, with the expected cost stated up front.
What are the best alternatives to Pecan?
It depends on what you need from the model. We compared five options, with sources and who each one fits, on a separate page: the best Pecan alternatives. Odins is on the list, and we say so up front.
