Odins vs Northbeam
Northbeam is the attribution platform many ecommerce and DTC brands grew up on, and it now sells MMM+ and incrementality testing too. Here is how it compares with Odins: what Northbeam does well, and where the two answer different questions.

Credit first: Northbeam made attribution a daily working tool.
Northbeam turned first-party attribution into something growth teams open every morning, and it publishes prices while most of the category keeps them behind a sales call. Both deserve credit.
- Attribution built on first-party data, with flexible lookback windows and several models side by side
- Deterministic view-through attribution for video and reach campaigns
- Published starting prices, which is rare in this category
- MMM+ and incrementality testing in the same product, on the same data
The budget question gets its own model.
Northbeam's MMM+ is built on its attribution data and trained daily. Odins starts from the budget decision: one Bayesian model per market, offline media and business drivers inside it, retrained monthly on data that arrives daily, with scenarios and forecasts you run any time and a person behind every recommendation.
- Built for the total budget and the split between channels, with attribution kept for work inside each channel
- Priors set with your team in 2 to 3 working sessions, from spend history, digital saturation signals and structured interviews
- Pricing, promotions and TV, radio, OOH and print modeled next to digital
- Forecasts stored before actuals arrive and checked at each retrain, and you can question the model any time from Claude via the Odins MCP
Channel contribution, 80% ranges
from the posteriorA tight range is a decision. A wide range is a test plan, with cost boundaries.
The choice
Who should choose which.
Both serve brands that spend seriously on media. They help with different decisions.
Choose Northbeam if
- You are an ecommerce or DTC brand and most of your spend is in digital channels
- Daily campaign and creative performance is the main thing you manage
- You want attribution signal sent back to the ad platforms' algorithms
Choose Odins if
- The main decision is total budget size and the split between channels
- TV, radio, OOH or print, or pricing and promotions, move your sales
- You want the model built and maintained for you, with a person reviewing every recommendation
The honest overlap
Odins complements attribution. Northbeam or platform tracking stays the tool for optimizing campaigns and creative inside each channel, and the model sets how much goes where. Many teams run both, and attribution data can inform the priors.
Frequently asked questions.
Is Northbeam a marketing mix model?
Partly. Northbeam is best known for multi-touch attribution, and it also sells MMM+, which it describes as high-speed MMM trained daily and able to ingest its own attribution data, plus incrementality testing. Northbeam does not say publicly whether MMM+ is Bayesian. Odins is a Bayesian marketing mix model end to end, run for you.
How much does Northbeam cost?
Northbeam publishes starting prices: Starter listed at 1,500 dollars for brands spending under 1.5 million dollars a year on ads, Professional from 3,500 dollars a month, and custom Enterprise pricing for teams spending more than 500,000 dollars a month. MMM+ is an optional add-on on Enterprise. Odins is a subscription priced for the budget it optimizes, with the team included and no data science hires needed.
Northbeam trains MMM+ daily. Why does Odins retrain monthly?
Data flows into Odins daily, and you can run scenarios and forecasts any time. Only the model retrain and the reviewed recommendation are monthly. A marketing mix model learns from how spend and sales move over weeks and months, so retraining more often would not make sense, and a person reviews each retrain before the recommendation reaches you.
Does Odins replace Northbeam attribution?
No. Attribution is the right tool for optimizing campaigns and creative inside a channel. Odins answers how much to spend in total and how to split it, including media attribution struggles to see, such as linear TV, radio and OOH. Attribution data can inform the model's priors.
Northbeam vs Odins: which fits an omnichannel brand?
If most of your sales are online and most of your spend is digital, Northbeam's attribution covers a lot of ground. If physical stores or offline media matter, a model with TV, radio, OOH, print, pricing and promotions in one place fits better, and that is what Odins builds for each market.
What are the best alternatives to Northbeam?
It depends on what you need from the model. We compared five options, with sources and who each one fits, on a separate page: the best Northbeam alternatives. Odins is on the list, and we say so up front.
