Odins vs MixModeler
MixModeler is a no-code MMM tool from London that runs in the browser, with a free plan, OLS and Bayesian models, and your data kept on your own device. It is a capable workbench for analysts who want to build the model themselves. Here is what it does well, and where it differs from Odins.

Credit first: MixModeler made MMM free to try.
Most MMM starts with a sales call. MixModeler starts with a free plan and a browser tab, and its documentation shows real statistical care: residual tests, multicollinearity checks and out-of-sample testing.
- A free plan with real MMM in it: adstock, saturation curves, diagnostics and decomposition
- Both OLS and Bayesian estimation, so an analyst can compare approaches on the same data
- Privacy by design: processing runs locally in the browser and the data stays on your device, per their docs
- Excel in and Excel out, which fits how many marketing analysts already work
Most of the work in MMM happens around the model.
A tool can fit a model in minutes. Collecting spend from every platform and agency, structuring it, setting sensible priors and checking last month's forecast against what happened take far longer, and that work decides whether a budget recommendation holds up. Odins carries it for you: data flows in daily, scenarios and forecasts run any time, and the model is retrained monthly.
- Data collection and structuring included, from ad platforms, agencies and offline media
- Priors set with your team in 2 to 3 working sessions, from spend history, digital saturation signals and structured interviews
- One model per market for budget size and allocation, with TV, radio, OOH, print, pricing and promotions inside it
- Forecasts stored before actuals arrive and checked at each retrain; a person reviews every recommendation, and scenarios run any time in the platform or from Claude via the Odins MCP
Channel contribution, 80% ranges
from the posteriorA tight range is a decision. A wide range is a test plan, with cost boundaries.
The choice
Who should choose which.
Both build marketing mix models, and both offer Bayesian estimation. The choice is about who builds and maintains the model, and how much of the data work you want to own.
Choose MixModeler if
- You have an analyst who wants to build and test MMM hands-on, without writing code
- You want to try MMM for free before committing budget to it
- Your data has to stay on your own machine, and Excel is where your team works
Choose Odins if
- You want budget size and allocation answered for the whole marketing budget, offline media included
- Nobody on the team has time to collect data, set priors and rebuild the model every month
- You want a person to review each recommendation, and forecasts checked against actuals
The honest overlap
We agree that MMM should be easier to get started with, and a tool like MixModeler is a good way to learn what a model can show. If you already run a model in MixModeler, bring it to the first working session: what your team has learned goes into the priors.
Frequently asked questions.
Is MixModeler a marketing mix model?
Yes. MixModeler is a no-code tool for building marketing mix models in the browser. You upload weekly or monthly data, choose OLS or Bayesian estimation, configure adstock and saturation, and run diagnostics and decomposition. You do the modeling yourself, in the tool.
Is MixModeler free?
MixModeler has a free plan with limits on the number of variables and saved models, and paid monthly plans for larger models, GPU acceleration and team access. Check mixmodeler.com for current prices. Odins is a subscription priced for the budget it optimizes, for companies with a marketing budget from EUR 1M to several hundred million a year, with the team included and no data science hires needed.
Is MixModeler Bayesian?
It offers both. Each model can use OLS (ordinary least squares) or Bayesian inference with MCMC sampling, and the Bayesian option lets you configure the priors yourself. Odins is Bayesian end to end, and the priors are set with your team in 2 to 3 working sessions, from spend history, digital saturation signals and structured interviews.
Can MixModeler handle TV and other offline media?
Any channel you can put into the dataset as a column can go into a MixModeler model, so TV or radio can be included if you collect and prepare that data yourself. Odins collects and structures offline media data as part of the service, and models TV, radio, OOH and print in the same model as digital, next to pricing and promotions.
How long does it take to get a model, MixModeler or Odins?
In MixModeler, a first model can be built as soon as your dataset is clean and in the template. Odins delivers a first verified model 4 to 6 weeks from kickoff, data collection and structuring included. Vendors who quote shorter timelines usually count from the day your data is already collected and prepared, and often do not offer data collection at all. After that, data flows in daily, scenarios and forecasts run any time, and the model is retrained monthly with a reviewed recommendation.
What are the best alternatives to MixModeler?
It depends on what you need from the model. We compared five options, with sources and who each one fits, on a separate page: the best MixModeler alternatives. Odins is on the list, and we say so up front.
